Brandon is an appealing suburb east of downtown Tampa, Florida. It offers residents a quieter, family-oriented lifestyle just outside of Tampa’s city center. Brandon Communities and Neighborhoods
Brandon includes four main communities. In Brandon and Seffner (to the North), you’ll be closer to restaurants, shopping centers, and entertainment venues such as movie theaters. Westfield Brandon Town Center, located in the middle of Brandon, is the major shopping area and offers a variety of shopping options. The area is also home to the Hillsborough County Fair, which usually takes place at the fairgrounds every year in October. A little farther out, you’ll discover Valrico (to the east) and Dover, which offer more of a residential lifestyle.
Some of the most popular neighborhoods include Barrington Oaks East, Brandon Hills, Kensington Estates, La Viva, and Limona.
There are nearly 45,000 households in Brandon. About 40% of the households have children under the age of 18 and about 60% are married couples. Non-families make up approximately 26% of the households. The average household size is 2.6 and the average family size is 3.10. From 2000 to 2010, Brandon’s population increased over 30%. The median household income for the area is just over $50,000 and the median income for a family is a bit higher at around $57,000.
Brandon’s public schools are part of the Hillsborough County Public School system. The area has many public high schools, including Brandon High School and three middle schools: Burns, McLane, Mann. There are also eight public elementary schools, including Brooker, Buckhorn, Kingswood, Limona, Schmidt, Yates, Mintz, and Symmes.
Brandon also has six private schools. They include Bell Shoals Baptist Academy, Brandon Academy Private School, Central Baptist School, Faith Baptist, Nativity Catholic School and Immanuel Lutheran School
Brandon also has one college campus, Southern Technical College.
